Q.
ProjectSpec Print is missing the template files or the margins are
incorrect?
When updating ProjectSpec from version
4.2.8.1 to version 4.3.2 some files may not have been automatically
moved properly. Click HERE to
update these files.
Q. Why
am I being asked to continually register my program when I have already
received a "Register Successful" message?
This probably means that you have an old
system file on your computer. You can download a new file
HERE.
Once you download this file, please unzip and save it in your C:\WINDOWS
folder and overwrite the existing file.
Q. I have
updated my ProjectSpec and now I can only run in DEMO mode.
Please make sure
that when you do the updates, that ALL ProjectMatrix programs are
closed, including AutoCAD. With recent versions of ProjectSpec, if
another application is open or running during an update, crucial license
code files are locked open and are not able to update.
To fix your DEMO
mode issue, RESTART your computer and run the update again before
running any of the ProjectMatrix software or AutoCAD.
Q.
Why does my ProjectSpec start up so slowly sometimes?
ProjectSpec
automatically checks this website for any new updates. Sometimes
with either bad internet connections or updates being done to our
website, the search for the updates slows down your startup. To
prevent this from happening, you can disable the "Update
Checker" under your Preferences through your Tools Menu.
Q. I have
overwritten my default print template. How can I get the default layouts
back?
Download this self extracting
ZIP file that contains the default print templates.
-
print templates
- Using either My Computer or Windows
Explorer browse to the file you just downloaded
- Verify the "Unzip to folder" location is
correct
- select the Unzip button
Q.
Why are some of my SIF files missing record lines when I open them?
There is a problem with ProjectSpec 4.1.2 which was distributed on the
December 2003 DVD and via our website. If you have NOT installed this
version please do not do so and skip this version completely. If you HAVE
installed 4.1.2 please update to ProjectSpec 4.1.3 immediately. This
version is currently available via our website.

Problem Defined:
We
have received a couple calls that when saving a SIF file the entire file
is not being saved. The result is that when you open the SIF file later,
line items are missing. We have not been able to confirm this but we have
made a few changes to the save routine. This has corrected problems that
have been reported.
Q.
How do I print out my SIF files in ProjectSpec 4.0?
Need a little help

Q.
Can you turn off and on fields that print?
To turn off
and on a field in the printout, first go to File/Custom Page
Layout. Then choose the type of page that you wish to
modify. This is done by selecting on the picture.
After selecting the page you will be in, the modify screen with
the current template will open. This screen represents the
page layout. You can drag and drop any of the blocks on this
page. To remove, you can drag an object off the page and it will
prompt you to delete or you can simply right click and choose
delete. To add, select the object from the parts tray on the
left hand side and drag it to the paper. You can only place that
object when it is green. Most of the items in this page can
only go into their proper section. This can be told by
the color of the box it came from. Once done, go to
File/Save as and save the files to any name that you wish.
To print a file with the new changes, make sure that you use the
new template that you just created.
Q.
How do I change the font size of the print out?
To change font
of any printed object you must first enter File/Custom Page Layout
and choose the page to modify. This will open the current template
and allow you to modify it. Select the object that you wish
to change by single clicking, or select all objects by going to
Format/Select All. Once selected, choose
the new size from the pull down box at the top of the page.
Save your template and print.
Q.
Can
you easily change views from the classic view to the spreadsheet
view?
Yes. You can
easily change views from Classic to Spreadsheet. This is
done by pressing the F12 key. This will toggle you back and
forth from Classic view and Spreadsheet view.
Q.
In a network setup do I have to copy any files to the workstations?
Click
HERE
for a Network Installation Guide.
No. The file
that was copied around is no longer in use by ProjectSpec 4.
If you are still using an older version (ProjectSpec 3) the main.ini
may still be
copied to the workstations that need it. The only setup
needed on a workstation now is setting the path to the Installed
Catalog Information File (PSCatalogsInstalled.ini). This is
done by going to Tools/Preferences and then choosing the File Path
Tab. At the bottom, select the installed catalogs
information file and then press the browse button and browse to
the above file on the network. This will only have to be
done once.
Q.
What's up with ProjectSpec Startup?
The
ProjectSpec Startup is a browser based front-end. It is
designed for us to ease communication between us (ProjectMatrix)
and the end-user. The bottom selection is there for your
interoffice communication. It can be setup to read a file
that you can modify.
